This is the work I did for Neon Play, a deck builder game called Rivals Duel: Card Battler. This is the first card game the studio have done and had heaps of fun working on this project!
My role in this was essentially leading the art direction. I worked closely with the Game Director and when we had other Artists jump onto the project I was able to have a say when it came to approving assets the other artists had made.
In this post, I wanted to show some of the characters I had made for the game. Inspired by those "Saturday morning cartoons" like G.I. Joe.
Due to time constraints and there being mainly me and possibly another artist, we had to find efficient ways to make these characters. We had a basic Human IK Rig for the male and female characters, both having different proportions, but we used the male rig for male characters and vice versa for the female characters. Therefore, we couldn't go crazy with the character silhouette, however, we did the best we could to make each character distinct and diverse whether that be through the model or the pose on the card.
This hands down has been my favourite project I've worked on during my time at Neon Play and I'm proud with the outcome
